BGSU's Kantola Named To Team Finland For WJHC

HELSINKI, Finland - Bowling Green freshman Kai Kantola has been named to the World Junior Hockey Championships as a member for Team Finland, announced earlier today (Dec. 16). Kantola, who joined the team back on Dec. 9 is the lone player on Team Finland that is currently a member of an NCAA squad.
The WJHC is an annual event organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation for national under-20 ice hockey teams from around the world.
While with the Falcons Kantola recorded four points (2g, 2a) in 16 games with the Orange and Brown. The 6-2 forward also has two power-play goals, to go along with 12 penalty minutes.
Finland is in Group B with Russia, Czech Republic, Switzerland and Belarus.
Group A consists of Canada, United States, Sweden, Slovakia and Germany.
Kantola and Team Finland begin action on Tuesday, Dec. 26 in a contest with Belarus. The gold medal game will conclude the action on Jan. 5.
