Recap | Final Stats | Notes
BGSU Coach Dan Dakich
"When Martin (Samarco) came out of the game today, we were able to expand the lead. That was a big positive from today."
Talking about Ryne Hamblet
"He has a real high basketball intelligence and he's six-foot-six and long. He has great anticipation, gets his hands on the ball. On top of it he has really good hands."
Commenting on Brandon Bland
"I thought he did a great job of turning the game around. He got a bucket, got a rebound up on the rim and he just did a really good job."
On the defense
"We got about four [steals] in a row late which is good. Darryl (Clements) was in there late getting it done, and Hamblet was in there getting it done all game."
Junior Ryne Hamblet
Commenting on team defense and leading the conference in steals
"The defense was most definitely the difference in the game. When Samarco came out and sat the bench for a couple minutes, we really picked it up on the defensive side and got some buckets in transition. I feel that was the difference in the game."
"Coach Dakich preaches defense every day in practice, and the games we have lost we didn't play particularly well on the defensive end."
About Bland's effort
"Bland is an every day guy in practice. He is one of our best defensive guys. Coach really looks to him to come in and pick up the pressure on defense and he did that tonight."
On his shooting success tonight
"I was just in one of those zones, you know. Everything just seemed to fall."
Northern Colorado Coach Tad Boyle
"We played a team that was very well coached tonight. Dan Dakich did a great job with his team. We knew the pressure was going to come not necessarily on the ball but they like to get into the passing lanes. They are just a well coached defensive team and we did not handle it very well tonight. I was disappointed. I thought we had chances to make plays in the second half offensively and we just did not make them and Bowling Green did."
"Since finals were over I thought we would come out with better energy tonight. I thought you could really see the difference when we went to our bench in the first half and our offense got awful stagnant as we started turning the ball over. We just did not get that jump from our bench that we needed tonight. As I told the guys in the locker room, our team is one that everyone has to play well from the starters to the bench and everyone in between. We are counting on everybody."
