BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The 2005-06 Swimming and Diving regular season will come to an end Saturday as they host the RedHawks of Miami University. The final competition at Cooper Pool will not only be the last meet before the conference championships, but it will also allow the Falcons to say goodbye to Coach Keri Buff's first recruiting class.
Seniors Stephanie Buckner, Nicolle Corporon, Jessica Guinness, Lauren McClave, Kara Ohngren, Dana Schultz, and Tina Sestan will be honored prior to the 1:00 p.m. first event.
"Our seniors have paved the way to our current success," said Buff. "We are looking forward to honoring them."
The Class of 2006 boasts six swimmers to record times in at least one event on the BGSU All-Time Top Swimmers list. Ohngren name appears the most with four records, while Buckner is the only senior to hold a school record (100 Free). Buckner and Ohngren were also selected to the 2004-05 All-MAC team along with Schultz.
At the 2005 Conference Championships, Buckner and Guinness were members of the University record breaking third place 200 Free Relay team. The relay record had stood since the 1987-88 season. Buckner brought home the gold in the 100 Free.
Academically, Guinness, Ohngren and Schultz were given MAC All-Academic team honors. The three were accompanied by McClave and Sestan on the MAC Academic Honor Roll.
The Falcons will enter the meet after securing their first conference win at the University at Buffalo. The victory over the Bulls was also the first road win for the squad.
Miami enters the meet seeking its 39th consecutive MAC win. If the Falcons upset the RedHawks, it will be their first conference dual meet loss in five seasons.
