Achter, a native of Oregon, Ohio (Clay H.S.), led the Falcons in scoring and assists last week, with 17.0 points and 4.5 helpers per game, as the Falcons beat Eastern Michigan and Toledo. She had a team-high 20 ponits, along with five rebounds and five assists, as BGSU downed EMU, 76-69, on Wednesday (Feb. 1) at Anderson Arena. That marked the first game in MAC history between a pair of teams with 7-0 league records.
Then, on Sunday (Feb. 5), Achter scored 14 points in BGSU's televised, come-from-behind win over arch-rival UT. She went 6-for-9 from the floor and added four assists as the Falcons erased a 15-point deficit en route to a 71-65 win.
On the week, Achter shot 50.0 percent (11-for-22) from the floor and 75.0% 12-for-16) from the free-throw line, leading the Falcons in both field goals made and free throws made. She also averaged 3.5 rebounds in the two wins.
On the season, Achter is averaging 11.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and a BG-best 4.7 assists per game. Through just over a year and a half at Bowling Green, Achter has career totals of 573 points, 207 rebounds and 218 assists.
Achter picked up this week's MAC Player-of-the-Week honor for the East Division, while Western Michigan's Carrie Moore earned the West Division honor.
Achter's award marks the fourth time a Falcon has earned league P-O-W honors this year to date. Junior Liz Honegger picked up the award on Nov. 28, while classmate Ali Mann was the league's player of the week on both Dec. 12 and Jan. 16.
The Falcons of head coach Curt Miller are 18-2 overall and 9-0 in MAC play, heading into Wednesday's (Feb. 8) home game vs. Northern Illinois University. Tipoff for that contest is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at venerable Anderson Arena.
