CLEVELAND, Ohio - Quoting some of the participants after the Bowling Green State University women's basketball team's 73-61 win over Northern Illinois Wednesday night (March 8) ...
Bowling Green Head Coach Curt Miller
"Survive and move on at this time of year. I don't think it is unusual but all teams have struggled in all three games in the first half. It's that time of year where they know exactly what we are trying to accomplish and we know exactly what they are trying to accomplish... I give our kids a lot of credit for not panicking. They play for an emotional coach but they stay level-headed and really, truly believe in themselves."

(On what he said to motivate his team)
"I told them they have nothing to lose. All we have to prove to our team is to each other. The coaches ultimately believe in the players. The players ultimately believe in the system... It's a coach's dream. We felt we were doing the right thing. We have won 49 games the last two years with this system."
BGSU junior forward Ali Mann
(On the team's struggles in the first half)
"I just thought we couldn't get a rhythm in the first half. Me, personally, I was missing a lot of shots I usually make. In the second half, my teammates stepped up and gave me a little boost and luckily we got going and everybody got involved."
Northern Illinois Head Coach Carol Owens
"Obviously we are disappointed. We played extremely well and played very hard but just came up a little short on the offensive rebounds. We got some stops we needed down the stretch, it was just a matter of time with a team like BG, to hold them to 18% shooting in the first half, but our kids did a great job of switching defenses, really attacking on the offensive ends when we needed to. I feel for our seniors; they played very hard.
NIU junior Stephanie Raymond
"Our goal was to come here and we accomplished that. We had 10 turnovers in the first half, and most of those were unguarded, and led by 2 -- that says a lot about us. To be up by 2 was tremendous for us, we couldn't keep a lead and this makes us want to work hard for next year, you better watch out for us."
