BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Junior Chrissy Gothke captured two awards Sunday afternoon at the 2005 Bowling Green State University volleyball banquet. Gothke earned Player of the Year and the Competitor's Award, voted on by her teammates.
Gothke logged time at setter and outside hitter in 2005, seeing action in all 32 matches. The Whitehouse, Ohio native racked up seven triple-doubles on the year. Gothke also recorded her 1,000th career dig and assist this season, becoming just the second Falcon to ever hit the millennium mark in both categories.
Senior Ashlei Nofzinger and Freshman Kendra Halm shared the Offensive Player of the Year Award after leading the Brown and Orange in kills with 300 and 250 kills, respectively.
The Defensive Player of the Year was also shared by a senior-freshman combo as Emily Manser and Chelsey Meek received the honor. While Manser joined Gothke in the 1,000 career digs club, Meek's 458 digs were the fifth most all-time in a season at BGSU.
