Falcons Beat Rockets and Huskies

TOLEDO, Ohio - The women's track did something it has not been able to do all season long--beat Toledo. The Falcons finished first in a triangular meet at Toledo against the Rockets and the Northern Illinois Huskies.
The Falcons showed their depth in the victory. The meet was run according to International Scoring which only allows two athletes per team to score and the Falcons took advantage.
There were four individual victories for the Falcons, including Nicole Standback in the 100-meter hurdles (14.32 seconds), Andi Bunko in the javelin (135-03.00), Jamie Roflow in the 1500-meter run (4:35.33) a personal best and Stacey Turak in the pole vault (10-00.00).
The 100-meter dash saw Jessica White absent from the event, as she injured herself in the 400-meter dash, but is expected to fully recover. Other Falcons finishing well were Kristi Vince and Amanda Sefcik with times of 12.8 and 13.1 seconds, respectively.
In the 200-meter dash, Vince teamed up with Yemoja Marotta to finish third (25.8) and fifth(26.1), respectively.
The Falcons saw three athletes finish in the 400-meter dash. Lacey Cochran finished fourth (58.71), Megan McAuley, sixth (1:01.63), and Marotta, seventh, 1:07.71.
The 800-meter run saw a third place victory from Angela Raizis (2:23.15), fourth from Roflow (2:23.59), eighth from Caroline Kipchaba (2:32.09) and Bridget Dalic (2:36.73).
Besides Roflow's victory in the 1500-meter, three other Falcons finished third (Kim Settle, 4:48.71), sixth (Colleen Moran, 5:02.56), and seventh (Dalic, 5:07.57).
The 3,000-meter run saw four placers for the Orange and Brown as fifth was Moran with a time of 10:51.97; sixth, Kara Butler, 11:25.18; seventh, Kylie Korsnack, 11:28.86 and tenth was Katy Senn, 12:13.98.
In the 100-meter hurdles, besides Standback's first place finish, Lyndi Springer came in fifth place with a time of 15.28 and Laura Coy finished sixth with a time of 16.08.
Springer also finished third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.80 and Settle finished sixth, 1:11.11.
In the 2,000-meter steeplechase, Stephanie Hillman finished second with a time of 7:21.94 and Andrea Pollack finished third with a time of 7:41.36.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Standback, Vince, Springer, and Sefcik finished third with a time of 49.51 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay finished second with a time of 3:58.22.
Erica Wilson showed her true form in the high jump finishing third with a jump of 5-08.00. Laura Coy finished fourth at 5-01.75. McAuley finished sixth at 4-07.75.
In the pole vault, Turak and Coy went 1-2 with jumps of 10-00.00 and 9-06.00 respectively.
The long jump saw Sefcik jump 17-00.75, finishing fourth and Wilson jump 16-10.75 and finish sixth.
The triple jump once again saw Sefcik compete and finish sixth with a jump of 34-02.25 and teammate Sahronda Alexander finished fourth (35-10.75).
The throwers showed their depth in placing. The shot putters, Takara Dunning, Paris Bussey, Whitney Hartman and Lauren Bryant went 2-3-5-7 respectively.
In the discus throw, Bryant finished second with a toss of 147-07.00. Hartman finished third, 144-10.00. Bussey finished fifth, 135-11.00 and Dunning finished ninth, 118-01.00.
The hammer throw saw Hartman finish second, 158-03.00, Bussey eighth, 141-10.00, Dunning tenth, 122-04.00, and Bryant thirteenth, 116-06.00.
In the javelin, Bunko was joined by Alyson Lee, Korsnack, McAuley, and Turak finishing 1-2-6-8-9.
The Falcons return to action next week as they head to Lawrence, Kansas to participate in the Kansas Relays.
