BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University baseball team fell victim to a one-run loss for the second time in as many games after a 4-3 loss to Miami. The Falcons drop to 22-19 overall and 9-8 in conference play.
As Miami starter Graham Taylor hurled a complete-game four-hitter, the RedHawk bats took a 4-1 lead after six innings. Junior Mike Barnard was responsible for driving in the Falcons first run.
Head Coach Danny Schmitz called on Sophomore Andrew Foster to pinch hit in the seventh inning. The Bowling Green, Ohio native delivered with a two-run shot over the left-field fence to cut the Falcon deficit to a lone run. Just two batters later, Junior Eric Lawson excited the Falcon faithful before seeing his deep fly ball caught on the warning track, inches away from evening the score.
The Falcons managed to push a runner into scoring position in the eighth, but failed to score a run, eventually dropping a 4-3 decision.
BGSU and the RedHawks are scheduled to play game three Sunday, April 30th at 1 PM.
