Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University Head Women's Track and Field Coach Scott Sehmann has announced that he will step down from his position following the conclusion of the 2005-06 season to pursue other professional opportunities.
"I am looking forward to the new challenges that lie ahead professionally and want to extend my gratitude to BGSU for the opportunity to directly influence and guide hundreds of quality young men and women in the sport of track and field over the past sixteen years as a member of the Falcon community," said Sehmann.
Sehmann joined the BGSU athletic department in the fall of 1990 as an assistant coach for the men's and women's track programs under Sid Sink and Steve Price. He became head coach of the women's program in July of 1999.
"Scott has represented the University in a first class manner and we are appreciative of his contributions to the program over the last 16 years," said Assistant Athletic Director Sid Sink, who is the sport coordinator for the women's track and field program. "We wish him all the best in his future endeavors."
During his tenure at BGSU, Sehmann has coached six All-Americans, 12 NCAA qualifiers, 26 MAC Champions, and 36 athletes who have set school records.
A national search for his replacement will begin in the future.
