BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green's 2006 pitchng ace, Alan Brech, has officially signed a contract to play for the Burlington Indians in North Carolina. Burlington is the rookie club for the Cleveland Indians in the Appalachian League.
"We are obviously sad to see a player of his caliber leave, but we are very, very happy for him and his family," said BGSU pitching coach Tod Brown. "It is exciting to see him get a chance at playing in the big leagues."
Despite only three seasons in the Brown and Orange, Brech has left his mark in the Falcon record books. The lefty's 14 wins and 148 strikeouts both rank among the top ten in BGSU history. Brech compiled an impressive 14-2 record with a 3.05 ERA in 180 innings pitched.
"Alan is one of the greatest pitchers, and greastest competitors to ever come through our program," said Brown. "We wish him luck and hope he pitches well."
