Baseball Adds 12 Players to Roster

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University baseball team has added 12 new faces to the roster this fall, including eight signees and four walk-ons. The newest Falcons are T.J. Blanton (Sandusky, Ohio), David Borcherdt (Archbold, Ohio), Matt Feltner (Sandusky, Ohio), Mark Galvin (Pickerington, Ohio), Alex MacRae (Bay Village, Ohio), Logan Meisler (Port Clinton, Ohio), Robby Moffett (Chelsea, Michigan), Richie O'Brien (Boardman, Ohio), Derek Spencer (Oregon, Ohio), Dennis Vaughn (Kirtland, Ohio), Matt Walters (Centerville, Ohio) and Corey Weiland (Perryburg, Ohio).

T.J. Blanton
High School: A three-year letterwinner for Sandusky St. Mary Central Catholic • batted .488 with a homerun, two triples and 10 doubles in 2006 • excelled as a junior also, batting .462 with four homeruns, three triples and 10 doubles • named team MVP following junior and senior seasons • recognized as first team All-Sandusky Bay Conference and first team All-Northwest District 9 as a senior • broke school record with 42 hits in a season • also lettered in wrestling and football.
Personal: Full name is Thomas Jerald Blanton • son of Scott and Nancy Blanton • born on February 17, 1988 • brother, Jeff, played football at Butler from 1997-99.
David Borcherdt
High School: A three-year letterwinner for Archbold High School • led the Blue Streaks to a state championship • batted .467 and .400 in his junior and senior seasons, respectively • named first team all-conference in 2005 and 2006 • also lettered in basketball, helping Archbold to three appearances in the state final four.
Personal: Full name is David James Borcherdt • son of Bob and Judy Borcherdt • born on May 11, 1987 • majoring in business management • father played basketball at Toledo.
Matt Feltner
High School: A four-year letterwinner for Sandusky High School • batted .346 and .396 in his junior and senior season, respectively • named team MVP, first team all-conference and first team all-district in 2006 • also lettered in football.
Personal: Full name is Matthew David Feltner • son of Mike and Melissa Feltner • born on November 19, 1987.
Mark Galvin
High School: A three-year letterwinner for Pickerington North High School • led the Panthers to a 23-6 record in 2006 • member of the first team all-district and all-conference teams in 2006 • named team MVP as a senior also • also lettered in football.
Personal: Full name is Mark Andrew Galvin • son of James and Andrea Galvin • born on June 18, 1987.
Alex MacRae
High School: A four-year letterwinner for Bay High School • batted .385 with a homerun, a triple and 10 doubles as a senior • also compiled a 4-2 record with a 2.20 ERA on the mound • second team All-West Shore Conference member • also lettered in football.
Personal: Full name is Alexander Shaw MacRae • son of Douglas and Jennifer MacRae • born on November 6, 1987 • majoring in exercise specialist.
Logan Meisler
High School: A four-year letterwinner for Port Clinton High School • led the Redskins to a Sandusky Bay Conference championship in 2005 • batted .544 as a senior in 2006 • recorded the third most hits (182) in OHSAA history • named to the first team All-Ohio and All-SBC squads in 2006 • earned team MVP and District Player of the Year honors as well • also lettered in basketball and golf.

Robby Moffett
High School: A three-year letterwinner for Chelsea High School in Michigan • led the Bulldogs to a state semifinals appearance • batted .363 with five homeruns and 64 runs batted in as a senior • earned academic all-state honors • named to the first all-league, all-district and all-area squads • also lettered in football and basketball.

Richie O'Brien
High School: A two-year letterwinner for Boardman High School • led the Spartans to a 2006 district championship • recorded a 7-1 record with a 1.30 ERA on the mound as a senior in 2006 • named to the 2006 All-Federal League squad.

Derek Spencer
High School: A three-year letterwinner at Clay High School • led the Eagles to eh 2006 City League final four • batted .392 with three homeruns in 2006 • named to the first team All-City League and All-District squads following senior season • also lettered in basketball.

Dennis Vaughn
High School: A four-year letterwinner for Lake Catholic High School • led the Cougars to four consecutive league championships • named first team All-North Coast League and All-State honorable mention following senior season • also lettered in football.
