BGSU Coach Dan Dakich
"The game tonight for us was decided by lack of turnovers. The guys who handled the ball for us did a great job of being careful with the ball and doing what they were capable of. Matt Lefeld who only had two points did a great job."
On stopping Skip Mills and Peyton Stovall
"Stovall and Mills started slow, but they have been two of the best, if not the best in the league over the course of the last four years."
On the teams improved second half play
"I thought tonight our team stayed poised, calm, and together down the stretch. That was how we were in the beginning of the year, and not necessary where we were during the last few games."
How about Brian Moten
"Earlier today Moten was hitting everything in practice, but there is a difference between a three o'clock hitter and a seven o'clock hitter. Sims, Moten, and Bland were hitting everything earlier today and I asked them if they where going to show up at seven o'clock. In practice on Monday Nate Miller got all over Moten and said `your not going to make it, you're not going to make it.' Then it clicked and Moten hit one, and in yesterday and today's practice he was making everything. I got in Nate's face and told him to guard Moten. In the locker room, even Samarco was chiming in and taking credit for Moten's success."
What about Nate Miller
"Nate Miller has done everything asked of him, but make free throws. He has emerged as, what I call, an everyday guy. Meaning, he works hard everyday, and that allows him to put the numbers up every week that he has. I am very happy with Nate, but today we challenged him and Marschall and said we had yet to win with them."
Sophomore Brian Moten
"We have a lot of guys who want to lead and win, and they told me that I need to focus on doing all the little things. I needed to do what I was recruited to do here and that is, put the ball in the basket. Samarco and Miller really pushed me this week, and I think that really paid off.
"After my first few shots they started to pay more attention and guard me tighter. But we scouted them well enough to stay mentally tough and close out the game."
"You only get so many possessions in a game, and coach has really been on us to take care of the ball. If we could eliminate those silly turnovers then we give ourselves more chances to score and the other team a lot less chances."
"Tonight we played like every possession was our last. We came out with a sense of urgency."
Ball State Coach Ronny Thompson
What kind of difficulties did you run into with Peyton Stovall and Skip Mills' game today?
"It's tough anytime the two of them have the kind of game that they had, it's going to be difficult for us to have success. You can't take anything away from Bowling Green. They came after them, they were physical with them and they followed them all over the floor, but that's part of being competitive, that's part of being a ballplayer. They came after them."
Is it too much for the team to climb out of when it was one of those games?
"No doubt about it, the kind of team that we have, both of them can't play the way we played for us to have success."
What was the difficulty early in the game?
"We couldn't score. We couldn't put the ball in the basket. Micah [Rollin] was missing lay-ups at point blank range. Peyton and Skip just didn't have it today. Again, you have to credit Bowling Green. Bowling Green had a lot to do with that, they were very physical and they were very aggressive."
