Bowling Green Head Coach Gregg Brandon post-Ohio quotes
Thoughts on game...
"It is disappointing. Ohio came out and knocked us around the first half and we didn't play with the consistency that we needed to win the football game. At half time we said it was a close ball game and we needed to come out the second half with a greater resolve about us to win the game. We fought to the end but its still a tough loss. There are a lot of teams who are very similar in this league. Our challenge right now is to bounce back and beat Akron."
Were you expecting [QB Theo] Scott to play as much as he did?
"I head he was going to play, yes. He made some timely throws and scrambles. He is a good player, very athletic and had a nice game tonight."
On containing their defense in the second half ...
"I thought we did a nice job on slowing them down in the second half. We were not as effective throwing the ball tonight as we needed to be. We had some drops and we not very sharp in our throwing game. I don't think it was anything Ohio was doing, we just didn't execute when we needed to."
On losing [Cory] Partridge in the kicking game ...
"Losing Cory really hurt us, but Zach Charles is a heck of a kid. I told him after the game you didn't lose the game for us.
"There was some good effort out there tonight. Dan Macon did a good job of running hard for us tonight and on special teams. "
What was different about [QB] Tyler Sheehan tonight?
"I don't know if he was negotiating the Ohio rush like he needed to tonight. We will evaluate that more later. Compared to what he has been doing, he looked to have an off night. He has had a hurt shoulder since Western Kentucky and has not been himself since. We needed to slow them down more to get the ball back in his hands and we were unable to do that tonight."
On the interception ...
"That was a tough one to take. They were in position and made some great plays. It's a game that six or eight plays dictate the outcome and tonight was no different."

Red-shirt Junior, Linebacker, John Haneline
On what BGSU was trying to do on defense ...
"We were inverting the safety a lot, playing a lot of cover three, bringing an extra guy down in the box and trying to run some blitzes where we thought they were trying to run the ball. He [Kalvin McRae] is a good running back, we weren't always doing our jobs as a defensive unit and he will make you pay. He has great vision; he skip right through there and keep going on you."
On the difference in the second half
"I don't think there was a difference in what we did. I think there was more of a difference in attitude out there. We corrected our mistakes in the locker room from the first half. We got out there in the second half and were more assignment sharp and tried to play our type of defense, which is team defense."
On how tough the loss is
"It's a horrible feeling right now. I'm dreading walking out of the locker room and trying to explain what happened to my family and friends who came out to support us tonight. We have to try to focus on what's next, which is Akron. We need to get back tomorrow, watch the film, get the corrections, do everything that we need to do and come out and make sure this doesn't happen again."
Red-shirt Sophomore, Wide Receiver, Freddie Barnes
On the offense ...
"We didn't come out and make enough plays to win the game. It is definitely not on [QB] Tyler [Sheehan], it's on the receivers to catch the ball and linemen to block for him. We did a decent job of running the ball, but when it came time to make plays and keep going like earlier on in the game we couldn't do it. A lot of times that comes from putting ourselves in bad positions from the plays before by us not executing on first or second down. When it ends up being third and long our chances to obtain a first down decrease."
Ohio Head Coach Frank Solich post-game quotes
On utilizing the running game and Kalvin McRae's record...
"We got out there and got the running game going early. [Kelvin] McRae had another excellent game and I think that it's fitting that he breaks and holds the record [of single season rushing TD's with 16]. He has had some great runs here lately. He's a great team guy and we were glad to see that he got the record."
On Theo Scott starting at QB ...
"It seemed to go well. Theo made some plays and we got some points up on the board to take an early lead. We didn't have to play from behind and it ended up being a plus for us in terms of what we wanted to do offensively. He [Scott] made some good plays up the middle and that can happen with a quarterback that has good legs."
On turnover ratio ...
"That was huge for us. We have been so poor in the turnover ratio in the last four to five games. We just could not keep going that way and expect to win ball games. We did a much better job at taking care of the ball and a much better job at creating some turnovers ourselves. That was the key to the ball game."
On the win ...
"It feels great because this ball club has been positioned to win football games and it just hasn't happened at the end. There are times that we have been our own worst enemy and there are other times were the ball has not bounced the right way. We have come through a lot of injuries so I feel great about how this team has battled through some things."
Ohio University player post-game quotes
Running Back, Kalvin McRae
On BG's turnovers ...
"That was huge for us. We've been so poor in turnover ratio for the last four or five games that we just didn't expect to keep going that way and expect to win ball games. We did a much better job of taking care of the ball and did a much better job of getting some turnovers ourselves; that was key today."
On winning games ...
"It feels great ... there's times when we've been our own worst enemy. There's times when the ball bounces the wrong way and we have gone through a lot of injuries. I feel great about how this team has battled through."
On defensive effort ...
"It seems like for a period of time there they were making a lot of runs on first down and getting chunks of 8-10 yards and obviously they were moving the ball, but our defense stepped up when it had to and forced some turnovers. When you play good defense that will happen for you."
Quarterback, Theo Scott
On offensive efficiency ...
"It's all about executing, making it happen, going out there and making a play. We're going through tough times right now, winning and losing, so you just have to go out there and have nothing to lose. Just go out there and make a play. Don't think about it, just do it."
On how difficult was it to stay competitive in a tough battle all game ...
"At times, having the lead early on, but we played hard the whole game. We just wanted it more than anything."
Defensive End, Jameson Hartke
On defensive stops against [BGSU QB Tyler] Sheehan while BG had momentum in second half ...
"I can't really explain it, but BG was starting to get a little momentum and we needed a big play. I figured I was able to get to him, because I wasn't able to get to him all night. Then Kris [Luchsinger] made a big play, a very athletic play, picked it off and took it to the house. It was just a great play and it turned around the whole ballgame for us."
On how a defense prepares for the variety of offensive sets that BG uses ...
"We knew that they would go five-wide and try to throw the ball on us, but at the same time we wanted to prepare all week for them to run on us. We expected them to run and that's what they did. We practice the zone play and the shotgun, which they did all night.
"At times they would get some drives going, get a couple big plays, but we got made big plays when we needed to, and we were able to get some turnovers to spark our offensive and our offense played a great game for us."
