Lindsey Goldsberry Named MAC East Player of the Week

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference office has announced junior captain Lindsey Goldsberry is the first MAC East Player of the Week of the 2007-08 season for her efforts in the Falcons 81-56 opening day win over Valparaiso on Friday, Nov. 9 evening.

In just her third career start with the Falcons, the guard set new career records in points (21), three-point field-goals made (5) and minutes played (32) while also matching her personal record in rebounding (8). Goldsberry was 7-of-10 from the field and 2-of-3 from the free throw line. In the win, the Dayton, Ohio native also picked up five assists [one shy of her career best six] and two steals.
Late in the first half, Goldsberry ignited a 16-0 Falcon run with a pair of back-to-back three-pointers - she and fellow guard Lauren Prochaska would go on to account for a combined 13-of-16 unanswered points in the offensive explosion.
With the win, BGSU won their fifth consecutive home opener under head coach Curt Miller.
Goldsberry and the Falcons will play their first road series with a pair of games in Nashville, Tenn. against Lipscomb (11/15) and Belmont (11/18). BGSU will then return home for a post-Thanksgiving non-conference contest against St. Bonaventure on Saturday (Nov. 24).

Keyla Snowden, Akron, Fr., Guard, Lexington, Ky./Lexington Catholic HS
Snowden was brilliant in her collegiate debut by leading all scorers with 18 points in 24 minutes in the Zips' season-opening defeat at Michigan Saturday night. With the team trailing by 13 points and less than seven minutes remaining in the contest, Snowden sparked a 16-9 UA run with four consecutive three-pointers that closed the gap to six with two minutes left. For the night, Snowden connected on seven of 12 field goal attempts and recorded a steal in her first college game.
Jamie Schiebner, Buffalo, Jr., Forward, Saginaw, Mich./Saginaw
Schiebner was one of two UB players with a double-double in the win over Youngstown State. The junior had 12 rebounds, including nine of the defensive end as she led the team in that category. Schiebner added 10 points, an assist and a block in 32 minutes of action to help UB to the victory.
Asheley Harkins, Kent State, Jr. Guard, Saginaw, Mich./Arthur Hill
Harkins went 5-for-7 from the field with one steal and one block. She totaled 14 points, three rebounds and five assits against St. Bonaventure on Sunday.
Lauren Kohn, Ohio, Sr., Guard, Adrian, Mich.
Preseason All-MAC selection Lauren Kohn posted 13 points, six assists and six rebounds in Ohio's season debut at Butler on Saturday. Kohn added one steal as she went 3-for-3 from the charity stripe and shot 45% from the field.
West-Player of the Week
Tiera DeLaHoussaye, Western Michigan, Jr., Guard, Detroit, Mich./Country Day
Tiera DeLaHoussaye was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Women's Sport Foundation Challenge in Albuquerque, N.M. The junior point guard helped Western Michigan start of the season 1-2, earning a come from behind victory over Big Ten opponent Northwestern, 64-61. Playing three games in as many days, DeLaHoussaye led the Broncos in scoring (10.7) while producing a team-high 6.0 assists and 2.6 steals per game. The shortest player on the Bronco roster, and the second smallest player out of all four teams rosters that saw action (New Mexico, Northwestern, Dayton) DeLaHoussaye showed her athletic ability all over the court, pacing the Broncos with a team-high 5.7 rebounds per game. She led her team in scoring two out of the three games. In the win over the Wildcats, she came through in the clutch at the free throw line, sinking 9-of-12, helping the Brown & Gold come back from a six-point deficit with 3:24 left in the game. She made a pair of free throws to bring the Broncos within four and then hit another with 3.8 remaining to help Western Michigan seal the victory. She was just shy of a double-double in the season-opener against New Mexico, recording 10 points and nine assists.

Audrey McDonald, Ball State, So., Guard, Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo
McDonald connected on five-of-10 from three-point land against 21st ranked Louisville in the season opener. She hit back-to-back three-pointers in the first half as the Cardinals took a 39-36 lead into the locker room. She ended the night with 19 points, four rebounds and two assists.
Cassie Schrock, Eastern Michigan, Fr., Guard, Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth
In her freshman début, freshman Cassie Schrock notched 13 points, six rebounds, seven assists, four steals and just one turnover as the Eagles cruised to a 108-22 victory over Temple Baptist College Sunday, Nov. 11, at the Convocation Center. Schrock was 5-of-8 from the field and a perfect 2-of-2 from the charity stripe. Five of Schrock's rebounds were on the offensive end of the floor in her 19 minutes of work. The win set a number of Convocation Center records, including most points scored in a game (108), fewest points scored (22), margin of victory (86), most points in a half (62-first half), fewest points in a half (10-first half), field goals made (46), and field goals attempted (81).
Ali Clifton, Toledo, So., Forward, Van Wert, Ohio
Sophomore Allie Clifton emerged as one of UT's go-to player late last season and that pattern continued in the Rockets' opener against IPFW on Saturday, Nov. 10. Clifton tallied a career-high 22 points and 11 rebounds in a team-best 31 minutes of action against the Mastodons. She scored 13 of those points in the second half.
