Yee Paces Falcons with Three Top Times

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Junior Alisha Yee recorded three first place finishes and sophomore Chelsea Lopus added another top time as Bowling Green (0-1-0, 0-1-0) was beaten 154-134 by host Eastern Michigan (3-0-0, 1-0-0). In addition, the Falcons won a relay and junior captain Brittany Collins won the 1-meter diving event with a score of 224.17.
The Falcons began the meet with the 400 medley relay as the team of Yee, Lopus, Meg Richardson and Sami Jordan swam it in 3:56.67, good enough for second place behind Eastern Michigan's time of 3:56.54.
Senior Jen Wright picked up a third place finish in the 200 free and the 500 free while Richardson took third in the 100 breaststroke. Yee then began her string of victories as she won the 100 back in a time of 58.17.
Lopus got in on the action, winning the 100 fly with a time of 58.56 earning a second place finish in the 200 fly. Fellow sophomore Frankie Houck took third in both the 50 and 100 free.
The Orange and Brown then picked up a one-two finish as Yee won the 200 back in a time of 2:04.05 and senior Brit O'Connor finished second.
Yee again led the Falcon attack in the 200 IM, winning in 2:07.52. Teammates Lopus and senior Kim Albin finished second and third, respectively. Albin also picked up a third place finish in the 200 breaststroke.
Junior diver, Ashley Belrose placed second in the 3 meter competition, a spot ahead of teammate Jill Auer. This is in addition to the one-two-three finish the Falcons had in the 1 meter event, where Collins finished first, followed by Belrose and Auer.
The swimming Falcons finished the night strong as they were victorious in the last event, the 400 free relay. The team of Houck, Jordan, Wright and Richardson finished in a time of 3:38.70.
The Swimming and Diving Falcons are back in action tomorrow (Nov. 3) as they travel to Muncie, Indiana to battle Ball State.
