BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Freshman forward Dan Sexton and head coach Scott Paluch take questions from the media following the #18 Falcons' 4-2 loss to #3 Michigan on Friday evening at the BGSU Ice Arena.
Bowling Green Head Coach Scott Paluch
On the game performance...
"We played a pretty good hockey game and we had our chances early in the third period to extend the lead to 3-1. It was crunch time, time to make plays and unfortunately they (Michigan) made the plays down the stretch. We held up pretty good and I liked the fact that we came back to take the lead. I thought we started the third period well, but [Billy] Sauer made some key saves and they had some guys make plays down the stretch".
On third period performance...
"Michigan started playing with some urgency and they started to bring the puck up the ice quicker. Jimmy [Spratt] made some saves, but they had some good opportunities and they buried them to win the game".
How heartbreaking was the first and second goal...
"You certainly don't want to give up a goal to end a period, especially when you play as well as we did in the first, but we talked in between periods about earning the momentum back and I thought we did that. We played a very good second period to take the lead. We didn't have any kind of set back in the third but once they (Michigan) scored the tying goal, they [Michigan] picked it up a notch and went on to win the game".
On power play evaluation...
"In the first period Michigan did a good job on the penalty-kill, but I thought in the second and third periods our power play was good and we had some chances to extend our lead. I liked our power play and I thought it was very solid against a good team".

On playing with Derek Whitmore...
"I got to play with him a couple shifts even though my line change was different. When we had the four on four, coach was able to get me out there and it was fun. It's always a good time playing with him [Whitmore]; he is one of the best players in the league. We got some good breaks tonight, and were able to use our speed to breakdown the defense. I was able to go to the net hard and get a goal.
On tonight's performance...
"I thought we played pretty well tonight. I thought we had them [Michigan] after the first two periods, but they're a top-three team for a reason. We played really well in the third period, but Michigan has some great players and they wore us down towards the end. When we look back on it, I think we can be pretty proud of our effort and keep our heads up, but right now its kind of hard to do that".
