Falcons Look to Clip Cardinals

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team will face Ball State on Saturday, Feb. 3. The meet will begin at 7:00 p.m. inside the Eppler Complex.
Keeping the Streak Alive
The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team kept their two-match win streak alive last week as they downed Northern Illinois 190.200-188.225. The Orange and Brown were led by junior Jholeen Ponce, who finished first on vault (9.825) and first on beam (9.675). For the second week in a row she broke her career high on vault,which was set the week before at 9.750. Ponce received MAC Specialist of the Week for her performances.
Freshman Megan Chronister set a career best on bars (9.400) and floor (9.475). On beam she took second with a 9.575, another personal best. With these performances Chronister was awarded MAC Gymnast of the Week. Other top performers for BGSU were Jacque Bernhardt, who scored a 9.775 on vault, Sakura Tomita, who scored 9.700 on bars, and Morgan Balzer with a 9.700 on floor.
Clipping the Cardinals
Last week BSU fell to Central Michigan 192.150-186.875. The Cardinals were led by senior Kelly Watson who scored a 9.750 on floor. Then on Sunday, Jan. 29, the Cardinals defeated Alaska-Anchorage 189.325-186.575. Watson took first on floor again with a 9.725 and in the all-around with a 38.450.
The Falcons had their worst meet of the season last year against Ball State, falling 187.875-183.625. Overall BGSU leads the series 18-12.
Schedule reminder
After tonight's meet, the Orange and Brown will take to the road again to challenge MAC opponent Central Michigan. The meet will be held on Sunday,
Feb. 11, at 2:00 p.m.
