OPENING STATEMENT
"It's a disappointing feeling not to get any points this weekend. Both nights were very hard fought. Tonight was a different kind of hockey game there wasn't as much flow as there was last night. It was a really tight game. Neither team was able to really get a lot of skating flow in the game. It was a grind it out type of game. You break down the different stats of games and they did a really good job of doing what it takes to win a game. They were disciplined and found a way to get the extra goal both nights."
Jimmy Spratt played well tonight, can you talk about his key saves to keep the Falcons in it?
"That was a great save. I also think his save with six minutes left in the game was spectacular. I thought it was a very good weekend for Jimmy. This team [Notre Dame] has had some success scoring goals. Jimmy did a good job against them. I thought our team did a decent job defensively all weekend. I thought Jimmy was very good."
Can you talk about Notre Dame's penalty kill tonight?
"I thought early on we did a few things that freed up space and got pucks to the net. They did a great job in the last two kills and the big kills in the game was that they were able to get three guys back quickly and get the puck down the ice. We weren't quick enough retrieving the puck, we had to plug there to win that battle behind the net but they just cleared the puck too many times on us. I thought a couple times when we did retrieve the puck that we had some confident movement but their penalty kill has been outstanding all year. It's basically their five man unit, the four guys and outstanding goalie too."
Can you talk about what you're going to take away from this weekend?
"We had a chance to digest some things as a team. When you look at 120 minutes of hockey and you get one 5-on-5 goal the entire weekend. I think as the weekend went on they were more disciplined than we were. We took too many penalties and even the 4-on-4 situation. We are at our best when we are playing 5-on-5. 5-on-5 we won the battle this weekend but we didn't allow ourselves a chance to win the games with it."
Jimmy Spratt
Can you talk about how your team played tonight?
"I thought we played real well. To shut down a high powered team like that, especially on 5-on-5 we were really good. It was just unfortunate that we couldn't end the penalty to win those two games."
How frustrating is it to lose such a close game?
"It's definitely frustrating because it's probably the best hockey we have played all year. Especially to get our chance with a team of that caliber, but I guess you have to look at the positives where we hung with a team like that. I think if we bring it like that every weekend we can definitely start getting some points in the standings."
How do you use your performance from this weekend to improve?
"You just have to build on it. We have had good weekends in the past and we have had good games in the past and we tend not to follow them up with strong performances. We just have to prepare the way we did this week and do that for every game."
Can you talk about the save you made in the first period tonight to keep the Falcons in the lead?
"I saw him standing there and I saw the pass coming across, so I just pushed over and took it in the gut."
What about the big save in the third period?
"It was just lucky. They were on the power play and they were passing it and I was down so I just threw up my glove and he shot it right into my glove."
