BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University women's soccer coach Andy Richards has announced the addition of six student-athletes to the program. Alicia Almond (Findlay, Ohio/Findlay), Sarah Haferkamp (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway West), Ashley Lintz (Mason, Ohio/Mason), Meagan Moran (Beavercreek, Ohio/Beavercreek), Katie Stephenson (Lexington, Ohio/Lexington) and Jackie Tamerlano (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) will join the Falcons this fall.
"We are very excited about this entire recruiting class," said Richards. "I couldn't be more pleased that these six student-athletes have committed their futures to the BGSU women's soccer program. All six will help us on the field and have been very successful in the classroom as well, as each of them has a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher, and we look forward to welcoming them to campus in the fall."

"The BGSU coaching staff is very excited about the prospect of seeing Alicia elevate her game at the collegiate level," said Richards. "She will greatly benefit the team through her competitive spirit as well as her athletic abilities. In addition to being an outstanding recruit on the field, Alicia also excels in the classroom. She has been on the Honor Roll for all of her four years at Findlay, and she currently maintains a 3.89 GPA."
Haferkamp, a defender/midfielder, has earned three letters for Parkway West H.S. to date (Missouri high-school soccer is played in the spring). She led her team in assists as a freshman en route to team Rookie-of-the-Year honors, and was an all-conference first-team selection in both her sophomore and junior seasons. Haferkamp will look to lead her team to a fourth consecutive conference crown this spring. She has captained her club team, the JB Marine Soccer Club, and led that team to a Missouri State Cup triumph and a runner-up finish.
"Bowling Green is very fortunate to add Sarah's soccer knowledge, ability and competitive nature to the program," said Richards. "She was highly recruited by several college programs. Her overall attitude and outgoing personality will add much to the chemistry of the team, and the coaching staff is excited for her to join the BGSU soccer family. Sarah is another recruit who thrives in the classroom, as she currently maintains a 3.9 GPA."

"The Falcons are delighted to have Ashley join the program," said Richards. "She follows in the footsteps of Mason products (former Falcons) Erika Flanders, Ashley Wentzel and (rising sophomore) Faith Juillerat. Ashley possesses the technical and physical ability to play either in central defense or as a marking back. She will add depth and speed to the program, and we look forward to watching her career develop over the next four years."

"Meagan played for the DSA program that produced current Falcons Susan Hunter and Kristin McDonald," said Richards. "She was the team captain for six years and was the leading scorer as they won numerous titles. We are very excited to add Meagan's dynamic play to the team's offense, and we are eager to see her replicate her ability to create and score goals at the college level. Additionally, in the classroom, Meagan currently holds a 3.6 GPA."
Stephenson, a midfielder, was a four-year starter at Lexington H.S. A two-time team captain, she was voted to the All-Ohio Cardinal Conference First Team as well as the all-district team in each of her last three years. Stephenson completed her career as a participant in the NCOSSCA Senior All-Star Game in 2006, and was voted her school's Outstanding Female Athlete. She has played club ball for the Liederkranz Mid-Ohio United Soccer Club, captaining the team in 2006 and helping them to several titles.
"The Falcons look forward to adding Katie's high energy to our midfield," said Richards. "We also look forward to watching her play blossom in the collegiate environment. The team will greatly benefit from her tremendous work rate and competitive nature. Another stellar student-athlete in this recruiting class, Katie is currently ranked first in her class of 232, and she maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA."

"Jackie's dynamic and aggressive style of play will offer the team a great amount of flexibility," said Richards. "She is fully capable of playing both in the midfield and at forward. Jackie's character and enthusiasm for the game are very highly-regarded by the coaching staff, and we are extremely excited to watch her become a vital component of the Falcon program. She is a member of the National Honor Society, and maintains a 3.6 GPA."
Bowling Green finished with an overall record of 10-10-0 in 2006, tying for third in the Mid-American Conference standings with a 7-4-0 league mark. Richards and the Falcons are slated to return nine starters from that squad in 2007.
