Track Competes at Brutus Hamilton Invitational

BERKELEY, Calif. - It may not have been the best of weather in California but at least they were not in Bowling Green where it is snowing. The Falcons had a respectable first showing as a team at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational today.
The top story of the day was Kim Settle's run in the steeplechase. She came away with the first place victory running a huge personal-best of 10:52.84. Jamie Roflow finished behind her teammate in second with a time of 10:55.31. The Orange and Brown also had a fifth place finisher in the steeple in Andrea Pereira de Almeida, finishing in a time of 12:44.59.
TaKarra Dunning was consistent for the Falcons once again throwing third in the shot put with a distance of 46-00.75. Dunning also finished sixth in the hammer throw. In her first meet in over two seasons, Liz Honegger finished fifth in the shot put with a throw of 42-02.75. She also finished seventh in the discus with a throw of 141-07. Andi Bunk finished third in the javelin, throwing 135-01.
Kristin Carver jumped a huge personal-record in the long jump with a distance of 17-03.25. She finished fifth in the event.
Jessica White and Nicole Standback led the team in the springs. White finished third and seventh in the 100 and 200-meters, respectively. In the 100, she ran it in a time of 11.99 seconds while in the 200, she finished in a time of 25.07 seconds. Standback finished the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 14.72 seconds for fifth place.
Danielle Thornton ran a personal-best in the 800-meters for the Falcons. The freshman ran the even in a time of 2:17.65.
At Michigan State, Amanda Sefcik jumped a career best 19-06.50 to rank her second all-time at BGSU.
The Falcons will travel to Cincinnati this Friday and Saturday to compete in the All-Ohio Championships this upcoming weekend.
