Not only did the weather improve, but also so did the scores for all 11 teams involved in the Falcon Invitational on Tuesday afternoon. Atop that list was the Bowling Green State University women's golf team as they fired a 317 on the final day of competition to place them seventh in the tournament, which was held at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green, Ohio. The 317 was the second-best score among the 11-team field on Tuesday.
The Falcons 317 was 36 strokes better than the 353 to open Monday, but it was also 43 shots better than the 360 they posted on their second round on Monday afternoon.
Nearly every Falcon improved on their scores, which was helped dramatically by the weather conditions. On Monday the temperature ranged from 39-49 degrees, with winds ranging from 20-30 mph throughout the day, while Tuesday brought mid-50 temperatures and just mild wind conditions.
Overall the Falcons shot 1030 (353-360-317), 30 strokes behind the tournament champion Toledo Rockets (347-342-311).
The Orange and Brown were led by junior Carley Hrusovsky, who finished tied for 13th with a 54-hole score of 255 (82-89-84).
Not far off the pace were also a pair of juniors, Amanda Bader and Lindsey Jonkhoff. Bader, along with Kari Liggett recorded a Falcon-best 77 on the final round. The Lima, Ohio, native showed dramatic improvement from round-to-round (94-88-77). Jonkhoff also saved her best for last, carding a 79 on the final day of competition. Overall Bader and Jonkhoff finished in a tie for 24th.
Rounding out the Falcon competitors were Liggett (263, T-30th), Jessica McCann (268, T-44th), Megan Gormley (281, 57th) and Hannah Lambert (303, 67th).
This concludes the Falcons' regular season. Up next for the Orange and Brown are the MAC Championships, set to begin on April 27.
