Four Champions, One Regional Qualifier and TONS of Personal Bests Highlight All-Ohio Championships

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Falcons had a lot to celebrate after competing at the 2007 All-Ohio Championships. The track team walked away with four individual champions and several personal-bests. They finished fourth with 79.5 points behind winner Akron, runner-up Cincinnati and third place Ohio State.
Yesterday, the Falcons saw Andi Bunko coasted away with the javelin title, throwing 141-02.00, her farthest throw in two years. Sophomore Kylie Korsnack recorded a sixth place finish in the same event, throwing over an eight-foot personal-best.
Keeping the momentum going, Jamie Roflow and Kim Settle went one-two in the steeplechase and Roflow, with a time of 10:49.79 qualified for the Regional meet. Settle, who finished in a time of 10:51.04, missed out on qualifying by only .79 seconds.
In the women's hammer throw, three of the four athletes competing set personal-records. In Division I scoring Lauren Bryant finished eighth with a throw of 151-06 (10th overall). TaKarra Dunning finished right behind her with a throw of 149-04. Paris Bussey threw 137-07 and Stacey Turak set a best of 109-05.
Kara Butler had to fight the scorching sun yesterday in the 10,000-meter run. She finished in a personal-best time of 39:12.82.
To round out day one, Sabrina Forstein jumped into the BGSU record books with a mark of 10-11.75, placing her second all-time and tied for eighth at the meet.
Today, the Falcons added to more victories to the kettle. In the 100-meter run, Jessica White repeated as the All-Ohio Champion, finishing in a season-best time of 11.87 seconds. She also finished fifth in the 200-meter race with a time of 24.94. The other victory came from TaKarra Dunning, who became the one of only two MAC athletes to throw over 50 feet this spring (Sarah Vance of Buffalo threw over 50 the same day as Dunning). Dunning surpassed her previous best setting the new one at 50-02.75.
Dunning wasn't the only thrower who was successful at All-Ohio. Paris Bussey finished seventh overall (sixth in DI) in the shot with a throw of 44-04.00. Liz Honegger rounded out the shot with a collegiate-best of 43-03.75. She finished ninth overall and eighth in Division I.
In the discus, Honegger and Lauren Bryant kept the Falcon momentum going. Honegger threw the discus 144-04 to finish third and Bryant threw 143-02 to finish fifth.
Freshman Danielle Thornton finished one spot shy of an overall top-eight performance in the 800-meter run. Finished ninth overall (fifth in DI), she ran the event in a time of 2:17.53, a new personal-best.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Nicole Standback, White, Ashley Spates and Shantell Lewis finished forth in a time of 47.28 seconds.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Yemoja Marotta, Danielle Thornton, Ashley Spates and Angela Raizis finished sixth in a season-best 3:58.07.
Sharonda Alexander finished seventh in Division I and ninth overall in the women's triple jump with a distance of 36-00.75.
The Falcons will travel to the Hillsdale Relays this Friday and Saturday at Hillsdale College in Michigan.
