Falcons Announce 2006-07 Award Winners

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University hockey team held their annual end of the year banquet on Saturday (March 31) to honor the seniors as well pay tribute to several Falcons who won awards.
Junior Derek Whitmore was the lone Falcon to walk-away with two awards, capturing the Dr. Ron Zwierlein Leadership Award, as well as the Jim Sears Most Valuable Player of the Year Award. He finished the season with 29 point, including a career-best 19 goals.
Jimmy Spratt captured the Bill and Helen Lloyd Award for Most Improved Player after finishing the season with a 3.64 goals-against average and an .886 save percentage.
Junior Jon Erickson captured his second-straight Jack Gregory Award for the Falcons' top scholar-athlete, finishing the year with a 3.72 grade-point average.
Jonathan Matsumoto won the Sam Cooper Trophy as the Falcons leading scorer. He finished the season with 33 points (11g, 22a). It was the second time in the last three seasons that Matsumoto had won that award.
Jeremy Bronson captured the Howard Brown Award, voted on by the coaches, while Kyle Page won the Jim Ruehl Award for Best Defensive Player and Ralph and Ramona DiBenedetto won the Dr. Tom Wojciechowski Award for distinguished service to the hockey program.
