BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University men's basketball coach Louis Orr has announced the addition of a local player to the program. Joe Jakubowski will join the Falcons for the 2007-08 season.
Jakubowski, a 6-2 guard from Rossford, Ohio, played for St. John's Jesuit High School in Toledo. He is the son of Doug and Kay Jakubowski.
"Joe is an outstanding addition to our basketball family," said Orr. "He is a high-character individual who comes from a great program in Toledo St. John's.
"Joe will bring talented point-guard play and a strong work ethic to our team. He competes at a high level and is a winner. Coach Ed Heintschel and the St. John's program do a terrific job preparing their players for the next level.
"We are blessed to have another Jakubowski as a student athlete at BGSU."
Joe's older brother, Jon Jakubowski, was a linebacker on the Falcon football team, completing his BGSU career last fall (2006).
Jakubowski joins Cameron Medlock (Whitefish Bay, Wis./Dominican H.S.) in Orr's initial class at BGSU.
