Parks set career highs in every receiving category as the Falcons defeated Minnesota, 32-31, in overtime on Saturday night.
Quarterback Tyler Sheehan connected with Parks four times in the road victory, including once in the overtime period which led to the Falcons gutsy two-point conversion. The nine-yard pass was also his first collegiate TD reception.
With his four catches for 69 yards, Parks nearly matched his total receptions for last season, and more than doubled his total receiving yards (he caught five balls for 30 yards in '06). He caught a 36-yard pass, a career-long, in the third quarter, and also had an 11-yard reception for a first down during BGSU's game-tying drive late in the fourth quarter.
The McDonald, Pa. native is a student in the College of Education and Human Development, majoring as an exercise specialist. He carries a 3.19 GPA.
The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
