Falcons Picked To Finish Ninth At MAC Indoors

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's track and field program was picked to finish ninth in the Mid-American Conference Indoor season, according to the 12 league coaches. The Falcons finished eighth last season in the indoor campaign.
The Falcons, and second year head coach Cami Wells (ninth at BGSU), return six seniors and eight juniors from a squad that had their highest Indoor finish last season since 2004.

CLEVELAND, Ohio- Eastern Michigan's men and Akron's women were picked as preseason favorites to win the 2008 Mid-American Conference Indoor Track and Field championship, as voted on by the league's head coaches.
Akron returns four 2007 All-MAC selections in Stevi Large, Jessica Miller, Colleen Moran, and Larisa Arcip. Large was the MAC's most outstanding performer last season. She also set the MAC indoor record for the hammer throw last year with a mark of 65-07.00 feet. Miller and Moran look to defend their first place finishes in pole vault and the 3000 meter run, respectively. Arcip looks to improve upon last year's second place finish in the mile run (4:54.89).
Western Michigan was tabbed second followed by Ball State and Central Michigan. Miami was picked to finish fifth, while Toledo was selected to place sixth. Buffalo, Ohio, Bowling Green, Kent State, Eastern Michigan, and Northern Illinois rounded out this year's poll.
On the men's side, back-to-back MAC Champion Eastern Michigan was selected to once again claim the MAC Title. 2007 MAC Coach of the Year Brad Fairchild heads into his eighth track season as head coach for the Eagles. Over his span he has accumulated six MAC titles and four MAC Coach of the Year honors. The Eagles return 2007 All-MAC selections Jacob Dubois, Josh Perrin, Eric Alejandro and Josh Karanja. Dubois looks to become first three time winner of the 800 meter run in MAC Indoor championship history.
Eastern Michigan is followed by Akron, Kent State, Central Michigan, and Buffalo in this year's poll. The 2008 MAC Men and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championship will take place in Ypsianti, Mich., and will be hosted by Eastern Michigan on February 29th and March 1st, 2008.
