BGSU Athletics -- Radio Update
January 16, 2008 | Men's Basketball
Jan. 16, 2008
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Beginning Thursday (Jan. 17), Bowling Green State University men's basketball games will once again air on WPFX-FM 107.7. The announcement was made Wednesday by the BGSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, in conjunction with Learfield Sports.
Along with WPFX, WBUK-FM 106.3 also will air all BGSU men's basketball games through the remainder of the 2007-08 season. Both stations also will air all remaining Falcons Nest Coaches Shows in the '07-08 academic year.
"Due to several factors beyond the University's control, recent men's basketball games were switched from 107.7 to 106.3," said BGSU Interim Director of Athletic Communications Mike Cihon. "The new agreement should make it easier for fans in the Bowling Green area to receive the radio broadcasts of Falcon men's basketball."
One of the factors in the recent switch was the sale of Clear Channel Communications, including WPFX-FM, to BAS Communications.
The announcement does not affect the remaining stations on the Falcon Sports Network, nor does it affect BGSU women's basketball and ice hockey broadcasts (both aired on WBGU-FM 88.1). Additionally, this does not affect the availability of all three sports via internet broadcasts here at BGSUFalcons.com.
"The BGSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics apologizes for any inconvenience fans may have experienced over the past few weeks," said Cihon. "The addition of WBUK should increase the overall coverage area for Falcon men's basketball and coaches show broadcasts."
The next BGSU men's basketball game is Thursday (Jan. 17), when the Falcons host Buffalo in a 7:00 p.m. tip at Anderson Arena. The Falcons Nest Coaches Show airs each Monday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., live from Frickers in Bowling Green.
