CLEVELAND, Ohio (BGSUFalcons.com) - Bowling Green State University senior Corbie Yee has been named a Mid-American Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday (Oct. 13). Yee earns the honor for the first time this season and the third time in her Falcon career.
Yee is only the second Falcon player to earn the MAC P-O-W award three times in a career. Kristy Coppes also earned the honor three times during her storied BG tenure.
Yee, who shares this week's award with Toledo's Molly Cornwell, is the third BGSU player this year to be recognized by the conference office. Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Alexa Arsenault earned the MAC Player-of-the-Week award on Sept. 8, while junior defender Colleen Kordan picked up the honor the following week (Sept. 15).
Yee, a native of Berea, Ohio (Berea HS), scored in the second overtime to give the Falcons a 1-0 win over Ball State on Friday (Oct. 10) at Cochrane Field. The goal was the ninth game-winning goal of her career, the second-highest total in school history.
That goal also was Yee's fourth career 'Golden Goal,' setting a new BGSU record in that category.
On Sunday (Oct. 12), Yee scored another goal in the Falcons' 4-0 home win over Miami. She now has 18 goals and 47 points in her BG career. Yee is tied for fifth on the school's career goals list, and ranks eighth all-time in points.
This season, the senior striker has team-leading totals of five goals and 12 points.
The Falcons are now 9-3-3 overall, the best 15-game start in program history. BGSU is 4-1-1 in MAC action, good for second place in the standings. Head coach Andy Richards and the Falcons play a pair of road matches this weekend, beginning with a Friday (Oct. 17) match at league-leading Central Michigan. BGSU then plays a Sunday (Oct. 19) game at Eastern Michigan, before returning home for the final three matches of the regular season.
