CLEVELAND, Ohio (BGSUFalcons.com) - Bowling Green State University men's basketball senior Nate Miller has been selected to the Preseason All-Mid-American Conference Team. The announcement was made by the conference office Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 15).
The Preseason All-MAC Teams are the result of voting by members of the MAC News Media Association as well as the league's 12 head men's basketball coaches.
Miller is joined on the Preseason All-MAC Team's East Division squad by Akron's Nate Linhart, Al Fisher of Kent State, Michael Bramos of Miami and Ohio's Jerome Tillman.
The West Division team is comprised of Ball State's Anthony Newell, Carlos Medlock of Eastern Michigan, Darion Anderson of Northern Illinois, Toledo's Tyrone Kent and David Kool of Western Michigan.
Miller enters his senior season at Bowling Green having averaged 13.6 points in 53 career games with the Falcons. In 2007-08, he led the Falcons with 13.2 ppg, and was second on the team with 6.4 rebounds per game en route to earning All-MAC Honorable Mention. Miller also had 2.7 assists and 1.5 steals per game, leading the team in the latter and ranking second in the former.
Miller was also an all-conference honorable-mention selection in 2006-07, his first playing season at BGSU, after averaging 14.1 ppg and 7.7 rpg. Miller, a transfer from UNC Wilmington, has 719 points in his BG career to date.
The Falcons finished 13-17 overall and 7-9 in MAC play last year. Head coach Louis Orr's team, picked to finish last in the MAC's East Division, more than doubled the conference win total from the previous year.
The 2008-09 team begins official practices on Friday (Oct. 17), and the Falcons play a home exhibition game on Saturday, Nov. 8, vs. Ashland. The regular season begins on the following Friday (Nov. 14), as BG faces Georgia State in the first of three games at the NABC Classic in Minneapolis, Minn. The regular-season home opener is Thursday, Nov. 20, vs. Wayne State.
