BGSU Finishes Eighth at All-Ohio Championships

FINDLAY, Ohio - The closing of the All-Ohio Championships will give the BGSU Falcons a week to rest before the MAC Indoor Championships while also allowing them to focus on areas where the Orange and Brown can become stronger. BGSU finished eighth out of the twelve team competition with 45 points, only four points out of sixth place. Miami of Ohio took top honors with an overall score of 161.50 points. Cincinnati (106), Ohio State (92), Ashland (70), Toledo (69.50), Ohio University (49) and the University of Findlay (47) rounded out the top seven rankings. Malone (14), Central State (5), Tiffin (3) and Wright State (0) rounded out the last four team finishers.
The senior throwers showed their leadership early in the event on their way to earning the Falcons 20 points. Junior Whitney Hartman led the way for BGSU, finishing fourth in the shot put with a mark of 13.96 meters. Senior teammates TaKarra Dunning (13.87m) and Liz Honegger (13.75m) added a fifth and sixth place finish in the shot put. In the weight throw Hartman finished third with a toss of 18.58 meters while senior teammate Lauren Bryant (16.29m) helped the Falcons earn two points, finishing seventh.
Brittani McNeal continued her successful freshman campaign with a third place finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.42 meters.
Freshman teammate Barbara Powers contributed two points to the Falcons overall total with a seventh place in the 3,000 meter run.
Senior Jamie Roflow added another two points with a seventh place finish in the one mile run, finishing with a time of 5:08.31.
Senior Lyndi Springer continued her successful season with a fourth place finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:17.44, just over two seconds behind first place.
The Falcons have this week off before heading to the Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships. BGSU will host the Sid-Sink Open High School meet on Saturday (Feb. 23).
