Slimming the Field
The fight for the MAC standings have continued to dwindle each week and recently the jam atop the standings have narrowed to three teams ... in the East both BGSU and Miami have produced 8-3 records ... the two will duke it out on Saturday afternoon in Oxford, Ohio ... Ohio remains at 7-3 after sitting idle this weekend ... in the West, the Falcons knocked the Eagles out of the race for the time being ... only Western Michigan retained their top slot in the opposing division ... each of the top three teams are enjoying winning streaks of two (WMU), four (BGSU) and five (Miami) games.
Tests From the West Have Been Put to Rest
Though the Falcons had troubles with the Western division as they opened the crossover play with two losses, BG won their remaining four games in the division to go on to procure a 4-2 record ... on the road the Falcons were 2-1 ... BG's wins in the West came at an average of +17.5 points ... since departing from the West Division at the start of the 2005-06 season, Ball State and Western Michigan are the only teams from the division to beat BG.
A Win Over KSU Would Mean:
• Head Coach Curt Miller would TIE former coach Fran Voll's total wins (144) over a seven year span as the leader of the Falcons.
•Seniors Kate Achter and Whitney Taylor would win their 102nd game with the Orange and Brown and would be one W shy of tying the all-time MAC record for wins in a four year career (103 - set last season by the Falcons).
•Bowling Green would record their fifth straight 20-win season and will be the 13th Falcon team to reach the 20-win plateau ... dating back to the 2003-04 season BGSU has won 21, 23, 28, and 31 games for an average of 25.75 games per season ... no BGSU wbb coach has taken a team to a fifth consecutive 20-win season after completing four at 20-or more ... Fran Voll's Falcons 1986-87 Falcons won 27 games and went on to win 24, 27 and 22 in the subsequent seasons ... Jaci Clark's Falcons reached a trifecta of 20 win seasons beginning in 1991-92 when they went 24-5 ... they went on to win 25 and 26 games in the ensuing years ... Clark's 1997-98 squad also won 20-plus (21).
Fancy Meeting You Again ...
On Jan. 16, 2008, BGSU picked-up their first road win in conference play as they defeated host Kent State University in convincing fashion with a 90-64 win ... senior Whitney Taylor was the talk of the BGSU bench as she hit eight consecutive three pointers en route to setting a new BGSU single-game record ... in fact, as of the mid-point in the second half, she not only hit that eighth three pointer to break said record, but was also a perfect 12-12 in MAC only games ... the 20-plus point effort was the first of her career and the eighth by a Falcon this season ... Taylor finished the night going 10-11 and finished as the game-high scorer with her 28 points ... as a team, the Falcons tied the standing record of 16 made three-pointers which was set in a home win over Akron on Jan. 26, 2000 ... Kate Achter had a near double-double sinking 10 points and contributing a game-high nine assists .... Lauren Prochaska, who was 4-5 from beyond the arc and a perfect 2-2 from the free throw line, finished with 14 points while Lindsey Goldsberry finished with 10 points going perfect from the floor (4-4) and the free throw line (2-2) ... after losing his first five games at the hands of one of his coaching mentor's, head coach Curt Miller has defeated a Bob Lindsay KSU squad on seven straight occasions ... Miller's team's average 74.43 points versus KSU in their wins and 84.33 over the last three ... KSU on the other hand averages 57.71 ppg in those seven loses and 60.67 in the last three outings ... all-time the Falcons are 38-27 over the Golden Flashes and are 17-10 over KSU in Anderson Arena.
Spark Plug
As the Falcons turn their three game losing streak upside down and enjoy a four game win streak reserve post Jennifer Uhl has been a `spark plug' of sorts from the bench ... over those three games, Uhl has averaged 12.0 points and is outscoring three of the Falcons' starters ... she also ranked third in rebounding with an average of 5.5 ... after going 2-of-3 from the field at Toledo, Uhl posted 13 points over NIU while contributing three assists and two steals ... first her assist on Lindsey Goldsberry's three pointer helped the Falcons take what would become permanent control over the score board ... later as the BGSU rookies recorded a 14-8 run on the Huskies, Uhl would be responsible for the latter seven points in that run ... on Wednesday night she went a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line while sinking five from the field ... she finished with a career-high 18 points ... she also pulled in six rebounds ... versus Eastern Michigan she led all Falcons with five FG's ... she also posted her third consecutive game scoring in double-figures ... in each of the last three games she has made five FG's ... over the four game span she is shooting .515 from the field and 85.7 percent from the line ... she has averages a little more than one steal in each of those games.
Support Like None Other
As of Feb. 18, 2008 the Falcons remain as the overall attendance leader as they average 1,298 fans per game no matter where their contests maybe ... in 10 home games, BGSU has seen a total of 15,854 fans fill Anderson Arena for an average of 1,585 - second best in the MAC ... through those home games, BG is on the fast track to surpass last season's record setting home attendance numbers (1,335; 10 games into the home season in 2006-07) ... in conference only games BGSU is THE team to watch drawing an average of 1,539 bodies per game in the stands ... in Anderson Arena the women's basketball program plays in front of an average of 1,731 ... the significance? ... BGSU is on track to possibly overthrow long time attendance leader, Toledo ... for the past 17 seasons the Rockets have drawn the top average crowd.
Countdown to the `Q'
When the Falcons tip off on the evening of Feb. 20 an estimated three weeks will stand between the regular season and the MAC Tournament ... through head coach Curt Miller's tenure, the Falcons are 36-15 in the month before the March tournament ... dating back three seasons, BGSU is 27-2 in February.

Kate Achter- Point Doctor
After starting the season ranking 18th on the all-time scoring list, Kate Achter has moved her way to the top ten (t-8) with her 1,424 career points ... seperating Achter and the next four places are six and eight respective points ... reaching fifth overall might be a bit of an upward battle as it will take 98 points to catch up to Liz Honegger's 1,522 career point tally ...with Achter inclusion into the top ten, four of the top ten scorers have been coaches by Curt Miller, while seven of the Top 22 players in the 1,000-Point Clubwere also Falcons under the current coaching staff ... Achter has scored 20+ points three times this season and has reached double-digit nights on 16 occasions.
... Ok, We Won't Let them Score
In holding Lipscomb to 27.1 percent from the field, the Falcon defense held the Lady Bisons to the sixth lowest shooting percentage under head coach Curt Miller ... on Feb. 16, 2008 they held Eastern Michigan to a 26.2% outing from the field ... of the Falcons low scoring efforts, four have been on the road while a total of three have come from non-conference opponents ... UB's Stephanie Bennett was the first starter from an opposing team that the Falcons held scoreless ... on Jan. 19 BGSU did not allow the Bulls top scorer to record a point in her five shot attempts ... it was the first time during the season in which she was held silent and the third that she was held to less than 10 points ... Toledo's (Feb. 2) 41 points were the second least to be scored on the Falcons in 2007-08 and the second lowest total an opponent registered in MAC play ... UT's 14 made field-goals and 27.5 field-goal percentage ... moreover, their 27.5% accuracy from the floor was the seventh lowest in Curt Miller history ... it also marked the sixth lowest scoring output by any opponent to a Miller coached team.
