BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Last week at the MAC Championships, senior Lauren Bryant threw for a BGSU school record in the weight throw. The throw of 63-00.75 also qualified Bryant for this week's Notre Dame Alex Wilson Invitational, which is a national qualifier. Bryant is currently ranks 28th in the nation in the weight throw and hopes to throw well enough this Friday to move up into the top 16, which would move her on to the national meet. Competing along Bryant's side at the Notre Dame Alex Wilson Invitational will be her junior teammate Whitney Hartman.
Last weeks throw of 63-00.75 (19.22m), was Bryant's best throw of the season: Bryant now holds the top weight throw on the BGSU indoor best list. Before last week Bryant's best throws on the season were 18.12 meters and 18.07 meters. Last weeks finish of second place was Bryant's best finish of the season, only to be out thrown by Akron's Stevi Large who threw for a MAC Championship record, 69-06.00.
Whitney Hartman put up her second best throw of the season last week at the MAC Championships. The junior threw for a mark of 60-03.75 (18.38m) which was good enough to place her fourth in the weight throw. Her best throw of the season was made at the All-Ohio Championships, where she threw for 18.58 meters. Hartman finished third at the event.
The women's 20lb weight throw is scheduled to take place on Friday (March 7, 2008) at 6:00 p.m.
