BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Sophomore Corey Domek is the fifth of the eight Falcon returnees to spread her wings letting Falcon fans get to know her better. Domek is a Naperville, Illinois native, majoring in sport management. She is a two-time All-MAC selection, as a freshman she was named to the MAC All-Freshman team and second team All-MAC this past season. She led the Falcons with 390 kills this season, recording 24 double-digit kill performances, including terminating a season high 21 kills in two matches against Gonzaga (9/7/07) and Kent State (9/28/07) and a career high hitting efficiency .615 (9-1-13) against DePaul (9/14/07). Domek was named All-Tournament at the Dayton Flyer Classic and the Comcast Lobo Invitational.
If you could see yourself playing another sport (and being really good at it), what would it be?
I would have to say tennis. I love watching and playing the sport, and if I could be really good at it, that would be awesome! Another reason I like tennis is because it doesn't involve that much running (my weakness) and it has a lot to do with power, which I love. It is a fun, fast paced game that I wish I were better at! And of course, the outfits are really cute!
What is your fondest childhood memory?
Family gatherings with all of my 38 cousins. I am lucky enough to have the majority of my relatives living around me, and it's always a blast when we get together! I love playing cards with my aunts and uncles and just playing games, singing and dancing with the whole group!
What are two things most people don't know about you?
I'm a sucker for old movies and music and I am a huge Barbra Streisand fan!
Favorite restaurant in BG?
Kermits for breakfast and El Zarape for lunch, dinner and appetizers!
If someone were to make a movie of your life, which actress would you want
to play you?
I would chose Cameron Diaz, because she's fun, loves to dance, and can be a klutz sometimes, which is a perfect representation of me!
Who has had the biggest impact on your life so far? And how?
I would say my mom. She has always been there for me, helps me out with my biggest decisions and has always been there motivating me to do what I love. She has been involved with my life, and is always supporting me, on or off the court.
What do you see yourself doing after you graduate from BG?
Moving back home with my loving and caring parents :) haha, and saving up the money to get an apartment in downtown Chicago.
What are your goals for the spring season and for next year?
For the team, I would love for us to be able to play really well together in the spring, and for the fall to win the MAC! Individually, I'm working on developing my skills as an all-around player, and hopefully get more of a chance to play back row.
You are a Sport Management major. What are your future goals and career aspirations?
I would love to work in the marketing department at a professional sports team, like the Chicago Cubs, or at a company like Adidas or Wilson Sporting Goods.
If you could have any job in the world, what would be your dream job?
I would LOVE to be a professional dancer who gets paid to do sweet dance moves, and to be in movies like...step up 3!
