(BGSUFalcons.com) - They say pitching wins championships and that is certainly what the Bowling Green State University baseball team will be hoping to do in 2009. After winning its' first Mid-American Conference Regular-Season Championship since 2002, the Falcons will have their sights set on defending their crown and their pitching staff will have a big say in whether or not that happens.
However, from what the Falcon coaches have seen from their 10 pitchers this summer, there should be a lot of hope for the future. Two of the 10 were named all-stars by their respective summer baseball leagues, while seven of those hurlers own earned run averages of under four.
On the summer, the Falcon pitching staff has combined for a record of 16-10 and an ERA of 2.71 on the hill in 179.1 innings. They have allowed just 54 earned runs and struck out a combined total of 156 opposing hitters.
Below is a look at some of the Falcons' notable pitchers from summer play.
