Achter to Play Professionally in Palaio Faliro, Greece

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Kate Achter, a four-year starter on the Bowling Green State University women's basketball squad, has signed an eight-month contract with the Palaio Faliro Pireus beginning in September.

The city of Palaio Faliro is a suburb in the southern part of Athens, Greece. The area is famous for its beaches forming Athens' nearest beach and Piraeus' only beach. For those Greek mythology buffs, the city is also known as the setting for the Battle of Troy.
In her time at Bowling Green, Achter led the Falcons to four consecutive Mid-American Conference regular season championships as well as three MAC Tournament Championship. The reigning MAC Player of the Year, Achter left her legacy holding the program records in career assists (688), free throw attempts (718) and free throws made (551), in her last season with BGSU she also set the single season record by dishing 237 assists. Her name can be found throughout numerous other program top ten lists as well.
Achter's highly decorated career in Orange and Brown was most recently honored when the point guard was named a State Farm All-America Honorable Mention at the conclusion on the 2007-08 season.
