Lauren Prochaska Named MAC Player of Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio (BGSUFalcons.com) - Bowling Green State University women's basketball sophomore Lauren Prochaska has been named Mid-American Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon (Jan. 12). Prochaska earns the honor for the third time in her Falcon career, and the third time this season.
Prochaska, a native of Plain City, Ohio (Jonathan Alder H.S.), averaged 21.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists as the Falcons won a pair of road games to open the MAC schedule. The Brown and Orange picked up victories at Kent State, 77-71, and Ohio, 62-52, last week.
Prochaska led the Falcons with 20 points in Wednesday's (Jan. 7) win at KSU, going 4-for-8 from three-point land. She also had a career-high six assists, along with four rebounds and three steals. She tied for game honors in points, assists and steals.
On Saturday (Jan. 10) at Ohio, Prochaska scored a game-high 22 points, with five boards and a steal in the win. She had a blocked shot in each game.
On the week, Prochaska shot 48.0 percent (12-for-25) from the field, including a 5-for-12 (41.7%) effort from three-point range. She made 13 of her 14 free-throw tries, for a 92.9% success rate.
On the year, Prochaska is averaging 16.5 points and 5.9 rebounds per game, leading the team in both categories. She also paces the Brown and Orange in field goals made (82) and three-pointers made (36) this season. Just a sophomore, she now has 750 career points.
Prochaska earned this week's MAC P-O-W honor for the East Division. Western Michigan's Tiera DeLaHoussaye earned the West Division honor.
The Falcons of head coach Curt Miller, 13-2 on the season and 2-0 in MAC play, begin a three-game homestand this week. BGSU will take a 13-game winning streak into a Wednesday (Jan. 14) game vs. Miami, with tipoff set for 7:00 p.m. at venerable Anderson Arena.
