BOWLING GREEN, OHIO - Former Bowling Green State University star Andy Tracy will be the featured speaker at the Winter Baseball Camp held by the BGSU baseball team. The camp will be conducted on Sunday, January 25 from noon to 4 p.m. in the Perry Field House on the BGSU campus across from the baseball field.
Tracy, a member of the 2008 World Champion Philadelphia Phillies, has spent 13 years in major league baseball playing for the Montreal, New York Mets, Colorado, Baltimore and Philadelphia organizations.
He was the Class AA Eastern League Player of the Year in 1999 after hitting .274 with 37 home runs and 128 RBI.
A 16th round draft choice of Montreal in 1996, Tracy set an Expos club record with 7 RBI against Florida in July, 2000. He also led the Pacific Coast League with 120 RBI while playing for the Colorado Rockies organization in 2004.
Tracy, a Bowling Green, Ohio native, still holds the BGSU career record for home runs with 45 (he shares the record with Kelly Hunt) and ranks among the top six in total bases, RBI, and walks in the 90-year history of baseball at the University. Tracy hit four home runs against Wright State in 1995 to set the school record, one that still stands today.
The deadline to register for the camp is Monday, Jan. 19. The cost for the camp is $75 with instruction from the BGSU baseball staff and players. Anyone between the ages of 12 and 18 is welcome to attend.
