Pink Zone/National Girls & Women in Sports/BGSU Women's Basketball Alumni Day Set for Feb. 28

BGSU Athletics and the BGSU Women's Basketball program are teaming up for the 2nd Annual Pink Zone/National Girls & Women in Sports/BGSU Women's Basketball Alumni Day on Saturday, February 28, 2009. Over 1,500 letterwinners and former coaches have been invited to participate in various activities throughout the day related to women in sports, and the BGSU Women's Basketball team will take on Kent State, with tipoff set for Noon at venerable Anderson Arena. All fans are encouraged to wear PINK in support of the WBCA Pink Zone initiative for breast cancer awareness.
The complete schedule of events for the day is as follows:
9:30-10:00am...Check-In (Sebo Athletic Center)
10:00-11:30am...Educational Programming Highlighting Women in Sport
*To consist of two educational session time blocks with participants having the option to attend:
- Women, Fitness and Nutrition (Dr. Kathy Cantor, Volunteer Team Physician)
- Forward Falcons: Women's Sports at BGSU from 1914-1982 (Dr. Janet Parks, School of HMSLS & Ann Bowers)
- Beijing, Paralympics and a Silver Medal (Denise Van De Walle, BGSU Volleyball Head Coach)
Noon...BGSU Women's Basketball vs. Kent State (Anderson Arena)

National Girls & Women in Sports day (NGWSD) was developed to celebrate female accomplishment in sport. Thousands of sport educators, coaches, athletic directors, recreation directors, sponsors, students and parents across the country will show their support in the month of February.
