Guy Earns Second Straight MAC Gymnast of the Week Honor

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Junior Breanne Guy, Bradenton, Florida native earned her second straight Mid-American Conference Gymnast of the Week honor announced by the conference office today (Feb. 24). Despite falling just shy of No. 16 Ohio State (Feb. 22), Guy led the Falcons to two season high team event scores and a season best team score of 193.750, BG's highest team score since the 2004-05 season.
Guy is the third gymnast to earn the MAC Gymnast of the Week honor twice this season and the second to earn it two consecutive weeks. This is Guy's second career MAC Gymnast of the Week selection and second of the season.
Guy had her second straight record breaking meet against the Buckeyes (Feb. 22) winning two of four events finishing second in the other two events recording a 9.800 or better in every event. Guy captured her second consecutive all-around title with a career high 39.300, the third best score in program history and third best score in the MAC.
Guy stuck a 9.825 and first place finish on vault, her second consecutive event win on vault and fourth of the season and tumbled her way to a career high 9.875 onl floor, hitting every combination in her routine and tying the eighth best score in BG program history. Guy led the Falcons' floor line-up to a season high 49.100 defeating No. 16 Ohio State on the event (48.145). She swung her way to a 9.800 and second place finish on bars leading the Falcon bar line-up to season best, 48.700, and recorded a second place finish in beam with a 9.800.
Guy has now won nine event titles and three all-around titles on the season. She ranks in the top six in every event in the MAC, tied for first on floor, third in the all-around, tied for third on bars, tied for fourth on vault, and tied with the fourth best beam score.
