Grunden Earns Fourth Top-Ten in Five Fall Tournaments

The Bowling Green State University women's golf team finished the fall portion of their 2010-11 schedule on Tuesday (Oct. 19) when they played the second and final round of the 2010 Mid-American Conference Preview.

The Falcons scored a combined 675 over the tournament's 36 holes. At the Longaberger Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio, the team played the par-72 course to the tune of 337 on Tuesday following Monday's round of 338.

Bowling Green finished 26 shots ahead of tenth place Cleveland State and two shots behind eighth place Northern Illinois. Western Michigan won the tournament championship.

Sophomore Susy Grunden ended the day as the Falcons' leading scorer. In notching her fourth top-ten finish in five season tournaments, Grunden carded a two-day total of 154 (74-80). She finished sixth, five shots behind Akron's Hanna Ek, who won the tournament.

Senior co-captain Lauren Glew earned a top-20 finish by posting a 79 on Tuesday. Coupled with an 83 on Monday, Glew's total of 162 was good enough for a 15th place tie.

Fellow senior co-captain Marisa Glew improved her score by four shots over the final 18 holes and ended the tournament with a 182 (91-87).

Kelsey Benson (181) and Amy Ruthenberg (184) also competed for the Falcons.

With the conclusion of the fall portion of the schedule, some team and individual stats follow. The team resumes its 2010-11 season on March 4, 2011 when they travel to Rio Verde, Ariz. for the Rio Verde Invitational.
