Nolan Reimold has returned to Major League Baseball with the Baltimore Orioles.
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- After spending much of the last three and a half months in the minor league, former BGSU Falcon outfielder Nolan Reimold received his call to rejoin the MLB's Baltimore Orioles and is already making his presence felt. Reimold was promoted from the Orioles' Triple-A affiliate, Norfolk Tide, on Sept. 1 and has played in three games since the call-up, to date.
In his three games since rejoining Baltimore, he is 2-for-10 and last night hit his first home run since returning last night (Sept. 7) off of New York Yankee ace pitcher, C.C. Sabathia. The shot was a two-run homer giving his team a 5-1 lead against the Yankees later resulting in a 6-2 Oriole victory. He now has three RBI in as many games since his call up.
Reimold started the season with the O's and was slated as the team's starting left-fielder following an encouraging rookie campaign in which he hit .279 with 15 home runs and 45 RBI in 104 games last season. He played in 29 games with the Orioles to begin the year before being sent to New Orleans (AAA). While with the Tide, the Greenville, Penn. native hit .253 with eight homers and 41 RBI in 93 games. In his last 27 games during the month of August, Reimold had a .327 batting average. He had also reached base safely in 40 of his last 42 Tide games.
The 2005 second round draft pick is one of two Falcons currently playing in Major League Baseball. Right-handed pitcher Burke Badenhop currently plays for the Florida Marlins organization as a relief pitcher. He is 2-5 with a 3.95 earned-run average in 41 appearances spanning over 54.2 innings this year. During the month of August, he allowed only three runs over 16.2 innings of relief. He earned his second win of the year in his last appearance on Sunday (Sept. 5), pitching a scoreless tenth inning in a 7-6 walk-off victory over the Atlanta Braves.
