With the win, the Falcons improve to 13-1 on the year, and 1-0 in MAC action. BGSU has won 13 consecutive games after a season-opening loss. The Bobcats drop to 4-10 and 0-1, respectively.
Senior Lauren Prochaska led all players with 23 points, while classmate Maggie Hennegan had 16 points, her highest total as a Falcon.
Ohio's Tenishia Benson had 13 points to pace three double-digit scorers for the home team.
The Falcons got off to a slow start, with two missed shots and an offensive foul on the first three possessions of the night. The Bobcats scored four points before Hennegan got herself to the foul line and hit two charity tosses with 2:20 gone in the game.
Ohio responded with a Benson jumper, but senior Tracy Pontius took a pass from Prochaska and knocked down a three-pointer, putting BG within a point of the hosts, 6-5.
The Bobcats, however, countered with a Benson jumper to take a three-point lead. OU went 4-of-4 from the field to start the game.
Prochaska hit a pair of free throws, but Kamille Buckner's layup was followed by a Benson steal and layup. The 'Cats led by a 12-7 score as Falcon coach Curt Miller took a timeout.
The Falcons saw three-straight possessions end in a turnover before Hennegan hit a short jumper. That shot began a 7-0 run for the Brown and Orange, as senior Jen Uhl took a Pontius pass and knocked down a three-pointer from the right corner. Then, sophomore Chrissy Steffen threw a pass inside to senior Chelsea Albert. Albert's one-handed bank shot gave BGSU the lead for the first time, 14-12, at the 10:28 mark.
An Alesia Howard layup tied the score, but Hennegan hit a jumper, and redshirt sophomore Danielle Havel drained a triple. When Hennegan put back her own miss, the Falcons had a 21-14 lead and it was the home team's turn to use a timeout.
The Bobcats got a Tina Fisher jumper and four-straight Shavon Robinson free throws to cut the lead to a single point, but junior Jessica Slagle drained a three-point from the left elbow, giving BGSU a 24-20 lead. Four consecutive points by Prochaska were matched by a 4-0 Ohio run to end the half, with the Falcons on top by a 28-24 score.
Hennegan, who had a team-high eight first-half points, hit a driving layup to begin the second period. Ohio was still within six points when the Falcons got back-to-back transition baskets. First, Prochaska grabbed a defensive rebound, went coast-to-coast and made a sweet move to split two defenders and hit a layup.
Then, Pontius grabbed an Ohio miss, headed downcourt and hit a pull-up jumper. The Falcons had a double-digit lead, 38-28, with four minutes elapsed in the period.
Ashley Fowler's jumper snapped a 6-0 BG run, but Hennegan hit two free throws out of a media timeout to restore the 10-point lead. Howard canned a jumper, but the Falcons then scored seven points in a row to wrest control of the game.
First, Slagle put back a teammate's miss while being fouled. The free-throw did not drop, but BG's lead was 10 points once again.

After a Fowler jumper, Uhl hit the Falcons' third triple in the span of just 1:33. That shot was taken from the same spot as Prochaska's second triple during that stretch -- the corner in front of the BGSU bench -- and found nothing but net to give the Brown and Orange a 53-36 lead.
The Bobcats had a final run left in them, outscoring the Falcons by a 13-4 count over the next five-plus minutes. That run was capped by Robinson's layup with 4:24 left, cutting the Falcons' lead to single digits, 57-49. But, the Falcons would respond.
After Pontius split a pair of free throws, BGSU had a five-point possession. Prochaska knocked down another three-pointer just as Hennegan was fouled away from the ball. After some discussion, the referees ruled that Prochaska's shot counted. The foul was the Bobcats' 10th of the half, giving Hennegan two shots at the stripe, and the Cincinnati native hit both of them for a 63-49 lead with 3:10 left.
