BGSU Softball Ranked No. 5 In The Country Academically

Starkville, Miss. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced over the weekend that the Bowling Green State University softball team had the fifth-highest grade point average in NCAA Division I for the 2011 season. As well, 13 players were recognized as NFCA Scholar Athlete for having a 3.50 GPA.
“I am extremely proud of our team and their outstanding accomplishment,” softball coach Shannon Salsburg said. “The dedication the girls have shown is truly special, as it is not an easy task to balance athletics and academics at this level.”
Bowling Green's 3.534 team GPA trailed only Tennessee Tech, Southern Illinois, Robert Morris and Houston Baptist at the DI level. Eastern Michigan was the only other Mid-American Conference school ranked in the top 10, coming in tenth place.
Bowling Green's 13 individual honorees were Andrea Arney, Lindsay Arney, Paige Berger, Haleigh Bielstein, Melissa Bott, Melissa Bowman, Hannah Fulk, Erin Greenwalt, Zada Lines, Jessica Odell, Rachel Proehl, Erika Stratton, and Melissa West
