Swimming Alumni Celebrate Homecoming at Jean Campbell Alumni Meet

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- The Bowling Green State University swimming team honored its present and its past on Saturday (Oct. 15) when it hosted the 2011 Jean Campbell Alumni Meet at Cooper Pool in the BGSU Student Recreation Center.

Alumni from Falcon swimming teams past competed in several exhibition races against members of the 2011-12 squad in a fun yet competitive environment. Events included 50 freestyle, 50 butterfly, 50 backstroke, 50 breaststroke, 100 individual medley, 4x50 freestyle relay and 4x50 medley relay.

The alumni swimmer troop consisted of Chris and Beth Bimbrich, Ray Martin, Lucas Womack, Jen Wright and Caroline Keating.

Other Falcon alumni and program supporters were on the swimming deck throughout Homecoming weekend to support the team and fellow alums. They included Tom Stubbs, Carrie Enright, Paul Atkinson, Ron Matter, Cliff Roahrig, Alicia Kelso, Kal Szekely, Janet Parks, Dolores Black, Dr. Lee Meserve, as well as many others.

Head coach Petra Martin said, "We want to thank everyone for coming and making this weekend a special one. We enjoyed seeing everybody and hope to get together again next year."

The BGSU swimmers open the regular season next Saturday (Oct. 22) when they host a triangular meet with John Carroll and Oakland. The meet will be held in Fremont, Ohio.
