October 02, 2011 | Women's Golf
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- The Bowling Green State University women's golf team seeks to continue its run of success as it travels this week to Dayton, Nev. for the 2011 Wolf Pack Classic, hosted by the University of Nevada on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 3-4.
The Falcons will tee off against ten other schools, including host Nevada. Sacramento State, California-Irvine and San Francisco will represent California. They will be joined by Utah Valley, Montana and Wyoming. Stetson and Old Dominion join Bowling Green as participants from the eastern half of the United States.
The teams will compete at the Dayton Valley Golf Club, which was designed by Arnold Palmer. Dayton Valley has served as a host site for the PGA Tour Qualifying School every year since 1995, making the longest-running host course for the event. This week, the course layout will be par-72 with a distance of 6,150 yards.
The tournament is scheduled to be 54 holes long. The first 36 will be played on Monday. A shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. (Pacific) will begin continuous play. The final 18 will be played on Tuesday, with the same starting time.
The Falcons' five-member team will be led by top seed Bailey Arnold. Arnold is a two-time Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week this season, leads the team with a 75.57 average, and owns two top-20 finishes in three events.
Arnold will be followed by Paula DiFrancesco. The senior from Burlington, Ont. most recently finished 14th at the Cleveland State Invitational and shot 159, just one stroke behind Arnold.
Shelby Wilson joins captain Amy Ruthenberg and fellow freshman Patricia Holt as the remaining members of this week's team.
Results and a complete recap will be available at BGSUFalcons.com following the conclusion of both days of the event.
