DiFrancesco Leads Falcons to Seventh Place at Wolf Pack Classic

DAYTON, Nev. -- Senior Paula DiFrancesco completed her best tournament as a Falcon on Tuesday (Oct. 4) as the Bowling Green State University women's golf team earned a seventh-place finish at the 2011 Wolf Pack Classic, hosted by the University of Nevada.

DiFrancesco shot an 80 on Tuesday, one day after posting her career-best individual round (71). Her 36-hole total of 151 earned part of a three-way tie for seventh place, just two shots outside of the top five. DiFrancesco's per-round average shrinks to 78.67 through nine rounds.

This is BGSU's second individual top-ten finish, and fifth top-20, of the season to date.

Freshman Patricia Holt also earned the best score of her young Falcon career. She tied for 25th overall after carding a 155 (78-77) at the Dayton Valley Golf Club.

Bailey Arnold and Shelby Wilson shot matching 160s over the course of the two-day event. Arnold produced rounds of 78 and 82, while Wilson had individual round scores of 81 and 79.

Team captain Amy Ruthenberg also competed for Bowling Green, and she ended the tournament with a two-day total of 162 (80-82).

The Falcons posted a composite score of 318 on Tuesday, which gave the team a 625 for the week. The score falls in line with the team's per-round average (312.00) for the first three tournaments. Bowling Green finished seventh overall, seven shots behind Sacramento State. The Falcons were one shot better than Montana and five better than Old Dominion.

Bowling Green's next action takes place next Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 10-11) in Fishers, Ind. at The Preview. The Falcons and several other Mid-American Conference foes will compete on the course that will host the 2012 MAC Championships. More details will be available later this week on BGSUFalcons.com.
