BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- The Mid-American Conference Championship is still six months away, but the Bowling Green State University women's golf team will get a taste of what that event will be like on Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 10-11) when they compete in Fishers, Ind. at The Preview.
The Preview will take place at the Hawthorns Golf and Country Club. It is a 36-hole tournament, with 18-hole rounds on both days. The 14 competing teams begin play in both rounds at 9:30 a.m. with shotgun starts.
The Falcons are one of eight MAC schools participating in the event. Joining Bowling Green are Akron, Ball State, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, Ohio and Toledo. Western Michigan University is the tournament's host school. Six other schools from across the region, including Cleveland State and Dayton, are sending teams.
Bailey Arnold tees off on Monday as Bowling Green's top seed and leads the team with a 76.56 average through nine rounds. Shelby Wilson enters this week with a 78.11 average and will again be the team's second seed.
Paula DiFrancesco seeks to continue her positive momentum after playing the best tournament of her Falcon career last week in Nevada. Her 36-hole score (151) lowered her season average to 78.67 and earned her first top-ten finish of the season.
Team captain Amy Ruthenberg and freshman Patricia Holt are also competing for BGSU. Ruthenberg carded a 162 last week, while Holt also played the best tournament of her freshman campaign, as she placed 25th with a 155 (78-77).
Live scoring for the event is not available; however, complete results and a recap will be available at BGSUFalcons.com following both days of the tournament.
