Eras Collide As Falcons Announce 2011 Volleyball Schedule

Complete 2011 Volleyball Schedule
Bowling Green, Ohio – One era begins and another comes to a close for the 2011 volleyball team. The team announced the 2011 schedule today, which will serve as the first season in the Stroh Center and the last of 29 seasons with head coach Denise Van De Walle at the helm. She announced earlier this month that she would retire after next season.
As had been previously announced, Bowling Green will host Michigan State on Friday, Sept. 9 as the first home athletic event in the Stroh Center. That contest will take place at 6 pm and will be part of the Best Western Falcon Plaza Invitational. The team will host Canisius and SIU-Edwardsville the next day.
The Best Western Falcon Plaza Invitational is one of four pre-conference tournaments that the team will take part in. The Falcons will open the season Aug. 26-27 at the Naval Academy Invitational and will play in the South Florida Invitational Sept. 2-3. Bowling Green will also head East for the Bucknell Invitational Sept. 16-17 leading into conference play.
The Falcons will play their first two league matches on the road before hosting Akron Sept. 30 for the first conference contest in the Stroh Center. In all, the Falcons will play 16 conference contests (eight home and eight away) and will conclude the regular season at home against Northern Illinois on Nov. 12. The MAC Tournament will take place Nov. 18-21 in the GaREAT Sports Complex in Geneva, Ohio.
