April 03, 2011 | Women's Golf
The Bowling Green State University women's golf team lost five of six matches to Ohio University on Sunday (April 3) in Fishers, Ind., as the Bobcats retained the Spring Challenge Cup.
The lone Falcon winner from Sunday's action was freshman Bailey Arnold. Arnold, who leads Bowling Green in per-round scoring average, defeated Ohio's Megan Weaver by a count of 3 & 2.
Fellow freshman Kelsey Benson and senior co-captain Lauren Glew each lost their matches 1-up; Benson fell to Erin Cahill, while Glew was defeated by Sarah Tranelli.
Jen Blanchard, playing this weekend for the first time in the 2010-11 season, lost on her home course by a 4 & 3 margin to Meryl Weaver.
Marisa Glew was Bowling Green's only individual match winner in last year's Spring Challenge Cup. This year, she was pitted in a rematch with Jordan Fesh, and Fesh won the match 6 & 4.
Ohio earned five points for their victories on Sunday and coupled those points with the five they earned on Saturday. The Falcons earned one point on both Saturday and Sunday.
Bowling Green's next action takes place in Richmond, Ky. next Friday and Saturday (April 9-10) when the Falcons play in the Eastern Kentucky (EKU) Lady Colonel Classic.
