Smith Named New York-Penn League All-Star
August 11, 2011 | Baseball
Former Falcon Brennan Smith was recently named to the All-Star team of the New York-Penn League. Smith is one of two players to represent the Connecticut Tigers. The game will be played next Tuesday, August 16, in Lowell, Massachusetts.
Although you wouldn't know it by looking at the record, Smith has been dominant in his time with the Tigers. With only a record of 1-3, Smith has an ERA of 2.38, which currently ranks him fifth in the New York-Penn League. He has thrown 53.0 innings in his eight starts, which ranks him fourth in the league. Smith, who has been especially dominant as of late, has only allowed seven earned runs in his last five starts, while throwing 34.0 innings in those five outings. As a Connecticut Tiger, he has struck out 44, while only walking 13. Unfortunately, his dominance has not shown up in his record, as he hasn't received the run support to win any games since June 19.
Smith, who is slated to get the start tonight (August 11) against the Jamestown Jammers, will look to continue his dominance on the mound, and ride the momentum into the second-half of the season for the Connecticut Tigers.
